Initial situation

“We had everything – except a real O&M software.”

When 4:energy began rapidly expanding its PV portfolio in 2022, one thing was clear from the outset: it needed professional Monitoring to meet the growing requirements of modern, scalable O&M. Basic Monitoring solutions were in use – including several manufacturer portals and traditional operator software – but these only covered parts of the workflow, offered hardly any automation, and required a lot of manual work from the team. Error messages had to be analysed and distributed one by one, reports were compiled from different sources, and there was no central overview of all plants at all. For the O&M provider with clear growth targets, the goal was to implement an O&M software solution that would create a scalable foundation for the company. This also includes automated ticketing, master data and central lifecycle records, as well as data integrity and IT security to ensure smooth operations and enable efficient scaling.

In the beginning, 4:energy regularly reached its limits when communicating with technicians, service providers, or investors: customizable, reliable reports were missing – both on technical performance and for regulatory audits. For management, this made one thing clear: they needed an open, integrated, and future-proof platform – one that structures the entire day-to-day operations while still leaving room for growth.

Solution

Amperecloud – the operating system for renewable energy

The recommendation came in 2021 from a colleague with many years of experience in solar technology – and she was right. After a four-week test phase, the technical team at 4:energy was convinced: Amperecloud is specialized in photovoltaics and provides the required standard without sacrificing flexibility or user-friendliness.
Only a few weeks passed from the first pilot to full productive use. Technicians and administrative staff were trained and were quickly working on the platform.

With Amperecloud, 4:energy found an integrated platform that established a secure and future-proof standard for the O&M of PV portfolios:

Centralized system for Monitoring and O&M of all assets

Inverter and string monitoring at component level

German-language support with a dedicated contact person

Customizable, automated reports for investors and authorities

Centralized lifecycle records and master data management for all assets

Remote access via secure VPN interfaces

Compatibility with new hardware (e.g. inverters)

Standardized processes reduce the workload of the technical team

Independent operating system with deep expertise in the solar industry

Result

Grow efficiently – from 90 to 400 MW in 2 years

Amperecloud successfully supported the growth of 4:energy’s portfolio from 90 to 400 MWp in just two years and provided the foundation for establishing a modern control room and O&M setup that efficiently supports 4:energy.

Incidents are now detected more quickly and processed systematically. Around 30% of tickets are created automatically, and data quality is robust. Reports on performance, availability, inverter data, redispatch requirements, and master data are generated automatically on a monthly basis. Monthly, maintenance, and service reports have been customized and are continuously adapted to changing requirements. Technical O&M is also integrated into commercial processes: tickets document every intervention, form the basis for reporting, and can be invoiced directly. 4:energy has gained a reliable partner with roots in the solar industry – technically proficient, data-driven, and still approachable.

“We did not just want a new software tool – we wanted to benefit from a solution that has grown with the industry. With Amperecloud we found exactly that: comprehensive Monitoring, standardized reports, and checklists that ensure strong performance across our portfolio.”
